The Tipperary County Council Plenary meeting brought unwelcome news for the N24 Cahir to Limerick Road Project, as another setback was announced.
Cllr Anne Marie Ryan asked for an update, and council officials said the planning application deadline has been pushed back again. The March Management report said the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and detailed design would be ready by the end of September.

However, councillors were told this work will probably not be finished until the end of the year because of changes needed.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland, along with the Departments of Transport and Public Expenditure and Reform, will review the project. This extra scrutiny could push the planning application to 2027, with construction possibly delayed until 2031.
Before submitting the application, the council plans to host another public display of the proposed designs and routes. Once completed, the project promises to transform the N24 from Cahir to Limerick by introducing new bypasses at Bansha, Tipperary Town, Limerick Junction, Monard, and Oola.
