The top scorer for Mullinahone in last Saturday’s currentaccount.ie All-Ireland Ladies Football Intermediate Club Championship final says that the club will build on the great strides that they’ve made in the last couple of years.

The Tipperary team suffered a nine-points defeat, 4-11 to 2-8, by Longford Slashers in last weekend’s final in Croke Park.

However, Lorraine O’Shea, who scored 2-4, says there are a lot of positives to be taken from the last year, including the county and provincial honours that they’ve won, as well as being promoted from junior to the senior grade.

Speaking shortly after the match ended, she said “This defeat will be a sore one for a while. But we’ll build on it for next year, use the chances that we missed today, focus on how we can improve for next year, and we’ll be back ready for the championship next year.

“Every club player in Tipperary wants to play senior. We’ll give it a rattle next year.”

She said it was tough to have lost a second All-Ireland final in one year, after Mullinahone were beaten in the junior decider last February.

However, she added “it’s great to be there at the same time. The top two teams left, it’s a great privilege to be representing your club and county at this stage.

“It was a disappointing game. Everyone gave their all and unfortunately we just didn’t come out on the right side of the result today.

“Longford Slashers are a good team. They were physical and a good team throughout from 1-15, as well as the subs who came on.

“Look, they just outplayed us today, that’s the way finals go, there can only be one winner.

“It was a big occasion, and the first time playing in Croke Park for some of our players. Everyone left everything on the field.

“I suppose that’s all you can really ask for, they were just the better side on the day.”
