As many as 30,000 people could be affected by thousands of notices of termination issued to tenants at the end of last year, according to housing charity Threshold.
The charity is also reminded tenants to be aware of their rights around evictions, and to know they have protections.
Threshold found that of the 4,000 termination notices issued, more than half were invalid.
John-Mark McCafferty, Threshold CEO told RTÉ News: "It's really, really important that renters know that they have rights - that they have protections. And not to accept a notice of termination on face value.
"As our experience bears out, the majority of those notices aren't valid, and can be questioned, maybe due to a technicality, or based on a false premise for the notice of termination," Mr McCafferty said.
He urged people to check over their notice of termination and also contact Threshold for advice.
Homelessness campaigner Fr Peter McVerry has said the ending of the temporary moratorium on no-fault evictions is the "worst decision" the Government has made.
"We have a tsunami of misery coming down the road," he said.
"We’re talking about tens of thousands of people who are going to be put out of their homes at a time when emergency homeless accommodation is absolutely packed," he added.
