Man spotted dangerously riding e-scooter down busy M50

The incident happened on Wednesday morning

A man riding an e-scooter has shocked motorists on the country's busiest motorway this week.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning on the M50 in Dublin, when motorists spotted the individual wearing a hi-vis jacket and a backpack, speeding in the middle lane on the e-scooter.

Dangerously, cars and lorries were overtaking him before he moved to the slower lane and took the N4 exit.

The video that could be seen on X (formerly Twitter) was filmed by a motorist travelling in the slow lane of the carriageway.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí said:

"Gardaí responded to reports of a person travelling on an e-scooter on the M50 Motorway on Wednesday morning, 22nd November 2023. Gardaí conducted patrols of the area.

"An Garda Síochána reminds all road users of the requirement to comply with Road Traffic Legislation.

"If a member of the public observes a person using an e-scooter on a motorway the advice from An Garda Síochána is to report this incident when safe to do so."
