Man arrested to appear in court after theft of Sunday service collection

A Garda spokesperson has confirmed that a man in his 40s has been arrested and is charged to appear in court this morning

Imminent court appearance following Donegal Cathedral collection theft

St Eunan's Cathedral, Letterkenny

A man has been charged following the theft of a church collection at St Eunan's Cathedral in Donegal. 

The undisclosed sum of money was collected at mass and stored in the sacristy of the church. The alleged thief managed to gain access to the sacristy and withdraw the funds as a funeral was also taking place. It was locals who saw the thief and reported the incident to gardaí. 

The incident occurred on Sunday, April 14 at approximately 1pm at St Eunan's Cathedral, Letterkenny. 

An Garda Síochána has confirmed that a man in his 40s has been arrested as part of the investigation and is charged to appear at a sitting of Letterkenny Court this morning.
