A new Thurles traders association entitled ‘Traders Unite Association’ has been established in the Cathedral Town following a well attended public meeting in Hayes Hotel last week.
The new association will seek to tackle some difficulties being experienced by traders in the locality with the aim of making high street shopping a more attractive proposition for customers.
A Task Force has been extablished by those who attended the meeting and they will meet with Thurles Town Council representatives this evening (Wednesday) to discuss a number of issues raised at the public meeting. These include, traffic management, parking, and the possibility of re-introducing parking disks to be sold through shops and a number of other initiatives which are designed to boost shopping in Thurles.
Street music for Christmas, group advertising and the personal attention received in high street shops are also being promoted while the Association is encouraging people to use the Thurles.ie website for free advertising to promote business and special offers.
There will be on-going consultation with traders so as to ensure that accurate and informative up-dates are received.
