Junior Minister for Transport Alan Kelly has stated that he is willing to meet with Richard Quirke and the promoters of the Tipperary Venue to discuss how the project can be moved forward, despite having been refused an invitation to the launch of it.
The Labour Minister told The Tipperary Star this week that he is at a loss to know why he was not invited to the event despite being the most senior politician in the county at the time, as an MEP.
“Of course I, as a local TD, am available to meet with the promoter of this project to finally get the full picture, ask questions and see if there is any help I can provide.
“To date, I have never been asked by him to meet with him or his colleagues and unlike all other public representatives I was refused an invitation to the launch of this project at the Horse and Jockey Inn . Why this was the case I don’t know? Nevertheless I will always do my best for the people of North Tipperary and work with anyone when it comes to job creation,” Minister Kelly said.
With the multi faceted project boasting a number of very impressive aspects, Minister Kelly is taking the promoters at their word when they stated that the proposal was not solely dependant on a casino licence. And, he is looking forward to the commencement of the work, possibly over a phased basis.
“The promoter of this project stated recently that this project was not solely dependent on a unique casino licence so I look forward to this project going ahead possibly over a phased basis. Projects like this need everyone to be on the one page at the same time. It certainly should not be about individual promotion,” he said in a veiled reference to Deputy Michael Lowry’s role with the project.
