NEW parking arrangements that come into force in Nenagh next Monday have received a mixed reaction from local traders.
Nenagh Town Council agreed at its January budget meeting to allow for free on-street parking in the town from 8.30am to 10am, Monday to Saturday, in an effort to encourage more people to shop in the town centre.
The initiative will run on a three-month trial period.
However, Anne Hudson of Healthyme on Pearse Street told the Tipperary Star this Tuesday: “We all had a good laugh at first, but then it all turned to anger. They must be laughing at us at this stage. The traders are raging over this.”
The health food store owner maintained that the biggest problem they had was that people were not coming into the town centre on Saturdays.
