Noel Coonan TD has welcomed the allocation of almost €1.3m in funding for new social and voluntary housing units in North Tipperary.
Deputy Coonan said: “I am pleased the Government has given this significant funding which targets people in need. In Roscrea, five new units will be provided for the Daughters of Charity Service for Persons with Intellectual Disability at No 17 Glencarrick. A further seven units will be provided at Tuath Housing Association facility in Coille Bheithe, Nenagh.
“It is planned to acquire a further two units in North Tipperary for social housing and it is also proposed to build two new units at The Barracks, Borrisoleigh to address local housing needs,” continued Noel.
“This funding aims to provide housing for people with special housing needs including the elderly, homeless persons and people with a disability. We in Government are dedicated towards helping those in need despite our reduced budget. The units will come on stream between now and 2014,” said Deputy Coonan.
