Thurles Town Clerk Mr Michael Ryan told members that he had been in contact with the receivers having been requested to do so by the councillors, and was told that the building will be put up for sale on the open market.

The basement area, which has been flooded for some time and is considered very dangerous, will also be tended to , the council members heard and will be maintained in the short term as a solution.

Cllrs Noel Dwyer and Michael Cleary who have been critical of the condition of the hotel welcomed the news as did Mayor Grogan.
