Thurles Rotary Club fundraise for Jack & Jill

From the top of Slievenamon, you can see the sea. From the top of Galteemore, you can see over into Kerry and over to Mount Leinster. From the top of Keeper Hill, you can see the majestic Shannon snake down from Lough Derg. And on 18th June 2016, an expedition of intrepid adventurers will walk all three hills in the one day. Starting at the base of Keeper Hill, outside Newport, the team will take three hours to climb up and down Keeper Hill. Then an hour drive to Skeheenarinky (with a lunch stop at Kilcoran Lodge Hotel) and the team will take four hours to climb up and down Galteemore. Finally, after a drive to Kilcash, a two hour walk up and down Slievenamon. The team will then descend on McCarthy’s Bar in Fethard for food and a bit of craic. The expedition is organised by Rotary Club of Thurles, and the objective, as well as completing the walk is to raise money for the Jack and Jill Foundation. Last year the Rotary Club of Thurles raised €4000 for the charity. The Rotary Club of Thurles is delighted to invite anyone with a good fitness, who is interested in completing the expedition to join the walk on the 18th June.

Walkers will be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide, and transport to and from Thurles to all three peaks will be provided. There are no costs to joining the expedition, although each walker must bring suitable clothing and walking boots in order to take part. Each walker must also be able to effectively fundraise for the Jack and Jill Foundation to secure a place on the team. For more details contact Michael Wright on 083 3581304.
