Moycarkey based Councillor Sean Ryan has welcomed recent safety works which were carried out by Irish Rail on Graigue Bridge near Moycarkey village. Speaking to the Tipperary Star this week the Fianna Fail representative said ‘’I am delighted that Irish Rail have completed safety works on Graigue bridge near Moycarkey village. This bridge has been exceptionally dangerous for some time and traffic coming over the bridge from the Holycross side was particularly exposed to a serious accident. The new boundary walls in particular will provide extra safety for large vehicles coming over the bridge. I am particularly delighted that these works have been completed over two weeks ahead of schedule, particularly before local schools re-open and I would like to thank local residents for their patience as well as Tipperary County Council for facilitating road closures for the works to take place and Irish Rail for carrying out the works. It is now imperative that some sort of anti-skid surface is put on the bridge as it is particularly prone to frost during the winter months. This is something that I will be lobbying for in the weeks ahead’’.
