Michael Corbett, Emerald Oils won the inaugural Visual Display Award at this year’s National Ploughing Championship held in Tullamore this week. Emerald Oils is an artisan family run business based on a 3rd generation farm in Cashel. Since September 2015, the business has been engaged in the production of cold pressed rapeseed oil, and are the only oil producers in Munster. Their products boast a unique flavour due to the fertile land and their premium oil was awarded 2 Gold Stars in the 2016 Great Taste Awards. The entire process is carried out on farm i.e. SOIL to OIL. Emerald Oils supply 500ml bottles and 250ml bottle to over 100 retail stores and also supply food service outlets across the country with 5lt drums. The winners of the first-ever Local Enterprise Village Awards were presented by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Ms. Mary Mitchell O’ Connor T.D The ‘Visual Display’ award won by Emerald Oils was judged separately by Guest Adjudicator and Journalist, Mairead Lavery. A total of 84 small companies, all of which are showcasing their products and services inside the Local Enterprise Village at the National Ploughing Championships, took part in the competition so winning was indeed a great honour for Emerald Oils.
