Fethard’s Jennifer Rice has made the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science Honours List for 2015/16 at Waterford Institute of Technology.
Two South Tipperary students have made the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science Honours List for 2015/16 at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).
Clonmel’s Rachel O’Dwyer and Fethard’s Jennifer Rice were recognised for their achievements at a ceremony on Wednesday 19 October at WIT.
Altogether 16 students made the honours list across the department’s 650-strong student body. Each student was congratulated by WIT president Prof. Willie Donnelly.
At the event, head of the department, Dr. Aoife Lane, said: “These particular students are wonderful role models for our department and reflect the culture of ambition and learning that we are trying to foster in all of our activities across teaching and learning, research and engagement. We all hope that this acknowledgement helps our award recipients and indeed our entire student cohort to strive for more in this and future academic years”.
Loreto Secondary School graduate Rachel O’Dwyer is studying a Bachelor of Business in Sport Recreation and Management. Her family includes parents Anne and Michael O’Dwyer, along with her siblings Evan, Adam, Rebekah and Ava.
Jennifer is a past Cashel Community School student. Her family includes Fintan, Valerie, Laura, Louis and Carmel Rice. She added why she chose to study Exercise and Health Studies at WIT: "Smaller colleges always appealed to me more because of the advantages they have with regards to having smaller classes, and therefore lecturers have more time to spend on individual students and help them.”
