Tipperary students enjoy cultural trip to Barcelona

CBS Secondary School in Carrick-on-Suir fifth year students at PortAventura World theme park.

A group of fifth year students from CBS Secondary School in Carrick-on-Suir recently enjoyed an exciting cultural trip to Barcelona. Over the four days the students got to experience what the Catalan city had to offer. A highly informative guided bus tour took the group to tourist attractions such as the Montjuïc, the Columbus Monument and the iconic Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família designed by spanish architect Antoni Gaudí.

A sun-drenched morning was spent strolling through Park Güell and around the historic monastic settlement of Montserrat.

Catalan identity struck a chord with the local students throughout the trip. Street food and performances of dance, music and acrobatics were everywhere, particularly on Las Ramblas.

A day was spent at nearby theme park PortAventura World, and the students also got to watch Barcelona beat Deportivo La Coruna 4-0 at the Nou Camp, with goals from Rafinha, Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.
