The recent conference on 'living off the land' in Medieval Ireland was truly groundbreaking in the quality and presentation of all the talks.
Over eighty participants came from all over Ireland, including a couple who came all the way from Normandy in France, assembled in the lecture hall. The afternoon field trip was to Fancroft Mill, gardens and the medieval surrounds. Books were very much to the fore, both in the book sale and the book launches.
One of the books honoured in Roscrea was John Quinn’s 'This Place Speaks to Me' which is dedicated to George Cunningham who has a chapter on Monaincha in it; a transcript of a radio interview that he did with radio producer John Quinn.
