Clonmel’s David Ryan best in Poulmucka

There was a large entry for the 5k and it was great to see Meet and Train groups from Tipperary Town, Fethard and Clonmel taking part.

This race was a Predict your time competition and the fifteen winners were Mary O’Neill, Sheena Mullins, Andrea Keenan, Conrad Burke and Sinead Stafford, all Clonmel; Mary Ryan, Fethard, Anna Fahy Clonmel; Nicola Guiry, Fethard; Shauna Ryan, Clonmel; Sinead Brophy, Thurles Crokes; Imelda Vaughan, Fethard; Ger McDonald, Clonmel; Aoife O’Brien, Clonmel; Denise O’Brien Fethard and Sean Shanahan, Galtee Runners.

In the 8K race we had a great race with the newly crowned County Tipperary Senior 10K champion, David Ryan of Clonmel running very well when winning in 26 mins 42 secs. Paudie O’Keeffe of Clonmel was 2nd in 27 mins 35 secs with John Shanahan of Dundrum 3rd in 27 mins 49 secs. David Shelly of Ballynonty was 4th Senior man in 28 mins 9 secs. Michael Murphy of Carrick on Suir was 1st 0/35 in 28:13 with Tommy Falconer of Carrick on Suir 2nd in 29:52. John O’Sullivan of Galtee Runners was 1st 0/40 in 29:11 with David Kenneally of Thurles Crokes 2nd in 29:14. Mike Cunningham of Moore Abbey Milers was 1st 0/45 in 27:59 with James Ryan of Dundrum 2nd in 28:37. Brendan Ahearne of Clonmel was 1st 0/50 in 30:41 with Jack Alexander of Coolquill winning the 0/55 award in 34:34 and Joe Grinsell of Clonmel winning the 0/60 award in 36:45. Michael Boland of Dundrum won the Junior Men’s award in 29:23.

The Women’s race was won convincingly by Martina O’Dwyer of Carrick on Suir in 29 mins 42 secs with Angela McCann of Clonmel 2nd in 30:16. Aine Roche of Clonmel was 3rd in 32:20 with Kate Harrison of Naas 4th in 33:23. Johanna Lacy of Clonmel was 1st over 35 women in 33:30 with Aine Doocey of Fethard 2nd in 38:03. Diane Behan of Waterford AC was 1st women over 40 in 33:55 with Martina Ryan of Thurles Crokes 2nd in 34:12. Lizzie Ryan of Clonmel was 1st women over 45 in 38:25 with Rose McKeown of Clonmel 2nd in 39:54. Gabrielle Blair of Waterford A C was 1st woman over 50 in 36:35 with Kathleen Kennedy of Waterford 1st over 55 in 40:07. Alina Neumerzhitskaya of Clonmel won the Junior Women’s award in 39:20.

The Men’s team award was won by the Dundrum quartet of Michael Ryan, Ruaidhri Devitt, Padraic Coen and Brendan Kinnane. The Clonmel team of Gerard O’Loughlin, Valerin Thzcoin, John Walsh and Ian Purcell won the 2nd team prize while the Clonmel team of Brian Carroll, James Denn, Niall O Ceallaigh and Dave Johnson won the 3rd team prize. In the Ladies competition the Clonmel team of Pamela Lynch, Rosie Casey, Donna Nagle and Oonagh Duffy won the 1st team prize while their club mates, Angela Walsh, Orla Durand, Anna Maher and Kate Hassett won the 2nd team award.

Fethard Road Races

All roads lead to Fethard tonight, Wednesday at 8 pm for the Open 4 mile and the Meet and Train 2 mile races. This year’s races will be run over a new 2 mile course and so we should see some very good performances. Sign in from 7pm. Great Prizes in all age categories. One Special Prize Open to entries from outside Co. Tipperary. Run our Just 4 Fun Run with an equal chance to win a prize First or Last. Moyne A C will hold their annual 10K Road Race on Monday 3rd June at 3pm. This is a good course and all finishers will receive a special medallion.

Deadman’s 5Mile road race takes place in Carrick on Suir at 7.30pm on Friday 7th June.
