Clonmel will promote the County Intermediate Cross Country Championships in Powerstown Racecourse this Sunday.

We had a very successful outing at the County Novice Cross Country in Moyne recently with good performances from our Ladies squad of Johanna Lacy, Fiona Barlow, Nicola Maunsell, Anne Byrne, Gemma McLoughlin and Una Redfern. They will be joined by Aine Roche, Catherine Rice and Donna Nagle as well as other Club members who are eligible to compete.

The Men’s team will be led by David Mansfield and should include William Maunsell, Paudie O Keeffe, Ian Purcell, John Walsh, Joe Whelan, James O’Brien, John Laste and Maurice Boland as well as other members who are eligible to compete. The Club would ask any Senior members who are not competing to come along and help with the stewarding, your help would be very much appreciated, Can you let Niall know by texting him at 086 1660888.

The Autumn 4K Road Race Series

This very popular series of races caters for all levels of fitness and it gets underway on Wednesday 30th October at 7pm. This year’s series will consist of six races finishing on Wednesday 4th December. This year any athlete that participates in at least 3 of the 6 races will receive a warm hat. The entry fee is 4 Euros and there will be prizes to be won every night of the series. We will use different race formats during the series. This series will cater for all levels of fitness as we will have three stagger starts catering for three different level of fitness.

There are a few Rules to be observed for this Series and we ask all participants to co operate:

1.All runners must wear reflective bibs, luminous jackets or tops are not sufficient for running in the dark. It is part of the club’s health and safety policy that all runners wear REFLECTIVE gear so please obey this rule. Proper reflective bibs can be bought at most Sports shops and we will have ones to borrow when you REGISTER each night.

2.You must wear your number at the front of your bib as your number will be recorded as you cross the line and we can then work out your time. Please pin your number either above or below the reflective strip on your bib, pinning your number on the reflective strip will mean that you will not be visible to traffic.

3.Watches, headphones, ipods or MP3 players are strictly forbidden. You must be able to hear the instructions of the stewards and you also need to be able to hear the traffic from all directions, there will be no exceptions to this rule. Stewards will take note of your number and we will know who you are.
