Derry to host All Ireland event

The All Ireland Intermediate and Masters Cross Country Championships will take place on Sunday, February 3 in Derry. All Clubs are asked to contact the County Secretary if they wish to have athletes selected on the County teams. The County will send teams provided that there is sufficient interest.

Moyne AC 5k Road Race takes place on Sunday, February 3 at 1pm. All proceeds will go to the Children’s Hospital Crumlin, a worthy cause. Entries will be taken at the Moyne Athletic Club Complex. The entry fee is 10 Euros and the race will be held over the Burma route, this route will also be used for the County Novice B Men’s County Championship race on April 14th.

The Munster Convention will take place on February 1 in the Auburn Lodge, Ennis.

County Fixtures

County Road Relays will take place in Dundrum on Sunday, February 10 at 1pm. This year there is a new format for the Men’s race. It will be the same as the Women’s distances as agreed at this year’s Annual Convention. The distances are 800M, 1500M, 800M and 3000M. As regards Juniors, only two Juniors can compete on a team and they can only run 800M or 1500M. A Junior is an athletes who is 16 years and over on December 31 in the Competition Year while a Senior athlete is an athlete who is 18 years and over on December 31 in the  Competition Year.

County Novice Road Championships are fixed for Clonmel on Sunday, February 17 at 12 noon. Distances Women 3k and Men 6K

County Intermediate Road Championships – Two Mile Borris – 12 noon – Sunday, March 3. Distances Women 4k and Men 8K.

County Junior and Masters Road Championships – Ballingarry – 12 noon – Sunday, April 7. Distances Juniors 3K and Masters 6K

County Novice B Road Championships – Moyne – 12 noon – Sunday, April 14. Women 3k and Men 6K

County Senior Road Championships - Fethard – 12 noon – Sunday, May 5. Distances Women 5K and Men 10K.
