Community Games

County Tipperary Community Games committee would like to extend their congratulations to all those talented people who received awards for their

marvellous achievements in various sporting activities during 2012 and in previous years at the annual Annerville Sports Awards gala evening which took place in Hotel Minella on Saturday night last.

This was a wonderful evening where Community Games were honoured to be associated with some of the recipients especially our President, Breeda Christie, Tipperary Town who actually made history being the first ever person to receive the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for her tireless contribution to her favourite sport of Athletics and over 40 years of service to Community Games at local, county, provincial and national level.

Breeda brought joy to thousands of children over the years, she is well respected thoughout the country and could also take her place in “strictly come dancing”.

Breeda was joined on the evening by her family and friends which included Emby Walsh, Carrick On Suir who won the Sports executive Award in 2009. It was lovely to see Sean Tobin, Clonmel A.C winning a second successive award for his wonderful achievements in athletics. Sean is a former games competitor who is currently a very active member of the County Tipperary Community Games Youth Committee who are such an asset to the organisation. Nora Doyle, winner of an award in Boxing has also won Community Games medals in Judo. It was an emotional sight at the end of the evening to witness everybody in the ballroom enclosing two outstanding sports people Breeda Christie and Larry Kiely, winner of the Knocknagow Award, in a huge circle to the strains of “Your Simply The Best”. What a fitting finish to a great night.
