Clonmel to host Boston Scientific half marathon

On Wednesday last the Boston Scientific Half Marathon Race commenced in earnest with the official launch of the event taking place at Boston Scientific headquarters on the Cashel Road, Clonmel.

Boston Scientific CEO Paudie O’Connor spoke of his delight to be associated with the Half Marathon and Clonmel Athletic Club and encouraged all to participate.

Nurse Trish Driscoll spoke of the benefits of running and exercise and also encouraged participation in the Half Marathon and if Half marathons wasn’t your thing the family night on the Saturday evening in Powerstown Park, Clonmel provided an opportunity to be part of the wonderful weekend.

This year’s event in Powerstown racecourse will help raise funds for the South East Mountain Rescue Association. We are indeed grateful to Powerstown Racecourse for the use of their fine facilities for this event.

At the launch Clonmel Athletic Club were represented by Frank Lynch, Club Chairman and Conor Fleming, committee member. Frank thanked Boston Scientific for their continued support of the flagship event and advised all present that this Half Marathon was the best value Half Marathon in the country with only one other club in Ireland matching the price. He spoke of the value in participation and advised the packed audience that Clonmel Athletic Club was running a Fit for Life campaign on Monday nights where anyone can get involved and all levels and abilities were catered for.

The Boston Scientific Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, August 18 and the family 5K Fun Run / Walk will take place on the Saturday night (17) in Powerstown Park in aid of the South East Mountain Rescue Association.
