The Kilsheelan 10K Road Race took place last Sunday and it was great to see so many Clonmel members, 40 in total, supporting this promotion.
Despite the forecast of such bad weather the race attracted over 100 athletes and it was great to see some very good performances.
Derek Nolan showed that he is running very well at present when finishing 3rd overall in 37 mins 40 secs over what was a demanding course where athletes had to face tough wind conditions at different parts of the route, those tough Powerstown sessions stood to him.
Then we had Frank Moran running the proverbial blinder when coming through the field strongly over the last 3 miles to finish 5th overall to win the over 35 award, his first Individual award, in 39 mins 30 secs, well done on a demanding course.
He was closely followed across the finishing line by Lar Martin in 39 mins 56 secs.
Then we had John Walsh also showing good form when winning the over 45 award in 40 mins 4 secs when 9th overall.
Eddie O’Donoghue on home soil ran very well when finishing 12th in 42 mins 23 secs with Tom Bourke 15th in 42 mins 48 secs.
Then we had Mary Molloy running very well to finish 3rd Senior Lady in 45 mins 34 secs, great to see Mary back running well again.

The breakdown of the 112 finishers were 60 men and 52 women, nearly 50/50, goes to show how popular running has become for women and hopefully on Sunday week in Clonmel we will have over 1000 women taking part in the Tipperary Ladies Mini Marathon.
