Our first outing of 2014 to the Birchhill Loop on Friday night was a great success!
Despite an overcast evening and some light rain beforehand, the evening cleared away to be mostly dry. Some 40 people turned out to enjoy the lovely countryside of the Birchhill Loop. Afterwards, there was plenty of relaxation and atmosphere beside the cosy fire at PJ Ryans pub, Rosmult. Many thanks to John Egan RRO, to Billy Clancy for leading out the walk and to all involved. So, why not continue next Friday, May 30, with our first group trip to the lovely Dunmore Loop, in Durrow, Co Laois. This is an entirely flat walk and the mixture of riverside, forest and field trails makes this a perfect Summer’s evening walk. Meeting point is the carpark, Slievemanon Road, Thurles on Friday May 30 at 6.20 pm and the walk will start from the Castle Arms hotel Durrow at 6.55pm. Newcomers welcome, just bring your walking boots, a rain jacket and some refreshments. Refreshments at the Castle Arms Hotel afterwards. Tel Carmel at 086-2602133.
