Well done to P.J. Hayes, winner of the Wednesday Open, finishing his round with 41 pts. Free from the burden of work and team selection he can now concentrate on his golf game. A feature of Wednesday’s round was his five over back nine. Paul Kennedy had a blank at the first and a six at the second but he finished very well to score 40 pts. One of P. J.’s playing partners, Aiden Dalton, finished in third place also with 40 pts having played his front nine in five over par. Gross winner Shane Hogan had five birdies in his two over round.

Scratch Cups deferred: The Breda Fitzgibbon sponsored Junior Scratch Cup and the Zipyard sponsored Intermediate Scratch Cup were victims of the weather at the weekend. While play was possible on Saturday the torrential rain that fell on Saturday night Sunday morning led to flooding of the course that resulted in no play being possible on Sunday. Saturday’s results now stand and the Sunday timesheet has been deferred to Sunday 23rd September.

Course care: With the very wet weather at the moment the course staff are under great pressure to keep the course up to their usual standard. Everybody can help therefore by doing the simple things to help. Please remember to replace divots, repair pitch marks and rake bunkers when playing your round. There is also a marked out path for buggies to travel on the course.
