Roscrea Leisure Cycling group is a newly formed group, set up by local cyclists in conjunction with North Tipperary Sports Partnership (NTSP).
We aim to promote cycling as a socially enjoyable and healthy exercise. Once you start cycling it will benefit you throughout life. We cater for all types of riders with all types of bikes. In the coming weeks there will be group spins led by experienced cyclists. We will choose routes in the vicinity of Roscrea that are not too challenging and are suitable for new cyclists. We’d like to acknowledge Roscrea Leisure Centre for allowing us to use their carpark as a starting point for cycles. RCDC have also agreed to work with us to promote cycling in Roscrea. Special thanks goes to Wayne Fanning from NTSP who arranged funding and insurance for the leisure cycling group. Amongst the cycling enthusiasts at the launch was Brian Colcough Manager of Bernie’s Supervalu, Brian King (Roscrea Credit Union), Emma Teehan (Manager Roscrea Leisure Centre), & Michael Breen and Enda Hennessy (Fiacri House Restaurant). A leisure group cycle to Mt. St. Joseph Abbey from the Leisure Centre will take place on Sunday (July 20). This is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow cyclists and discover new routes. Spins are led by experienced friendly cycle leaders. Just turn up on the day! You can also register your interest in advance by contacting Tim Hennessy at 087 6902812 or by liking the Roscrea leisure cycling page on Facebook. Cyclists are advised to meet up at 10.25am and departure time is at 10.30am. For the cycle you are covered by insurance if you have a helmet and we have a strict no helmet no cycle policy. We would like to thank North Tipperary Sports partnership for providing insurance funding and advice. Second cycle will take place on Wed. July 23rd at 7.30pm meeting at Roscrea Leisure Centre.
