Clonmel hosts swimming finals this weekend

Community Games are currently in the middle of a hectic programme of events.

County finals of swimming will take place in Clonmel Pool on Saturday next May 12 (Girls) and Sunday May 13 (Boys). Doors open at 2pm for warm up. Competition will commence at 2.30pm with the under 8 event.

Entries are now closed. Ballylooby, Killenaule,and Grangemockler are now affiliated so children from those areas may take part. Only areas who are currently affiliated may participate. It is unacceptable that people turn up on the day and think it is possible to affiliate. Co-ordinator Tom O’Ceallaigh 087-2433101.

County finals of Gymnastics took place in Moyle Park Sports Complex on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7. Results will be published next week.

Cashel Rosegreen area are making history at the moment, there are 17 very excited young ladies practising hard under the directorship of Mrs. Mary Andrews for the National Finals of the HSE Community Games Choir competition which will take place in AIT Athlone on Saturday, May 26. This is the first time Cashel ever represented Tipperary in the Choir event. Members are: Sophie Bourke, Rebecca Delahunty, Aine Bourke, Marianne Ryan, Ciara O’Donoghue. Caitlin B Greene, Nicole B Greene, Aoife White, Megan White, Shannon Fitzgerald, Gabiela Slota, Sophie Keane, Janeanne Fitzgerald, Jane Grogan, Eimear Allison, Shona P Fitzgerald, Kelly McGreer.

The under 12 boys Chess team also made history when they defeated Silvermines in the county final and represented Tipperary at the HSE Community Games Munster Finals in University of Limerick . This was also a first ever venture for chess in Cashel. Team members were Jack Ryan (Con), Ricky Lambe, Lorcan Webb, James Laffey, Sean Quinlan

The Cashel under 11 Hurling team defeated Ballyclerihan in the first round of their match and are now looking forward to meeting Fethard in round two.


We have now in the midst of the second round of the GAA games in South Tipperary.
