The 2001 clash of two hurling titan teams in Croke Park to determine the winner of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was not a match to be missed.

The final was contested by Tipperary and Galway, with the Premier County winning out on a close score line of 2-18 to 2-15 to claim the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

Tipperary's first All-Ireland title since 1991, the win was huge for coach Nicky English, who was in his third year of coaching the hurling side.
