Some Community Education Classes coming up in Age Friendly Roscrea are available to become involved with now:
On Wednesday 2nd October at 3pm the Rosie Greys and Ukelele Group will hold a performance in Racket Hall for the entertainment of the residents and all are welcome to join them.
Starting on Wednesday 9th October, 11am to 1pm, Fiona Hartigan of Family Carers Ireland will facilitate an 8-week course on Caring with Confidence. There will be guest speakers covering various topics such as practical skills, your rights and entitlements, first aid and self-care. Please call us to book your place.
On Friday 11th October, they will have their first monthly Carers Support Group meeting from 10.30am to 12.30pm. This will give carers an opportunity to meet other people in similar circumstances, or simply drop in for a chat, get advice or support.
On Tuesday 15th October, we start a 5-week Genealogy Course from 10am to 1pm. Booking is essential for this course.
Senior Alert Scheme – as we head into the winter months, please note that we process the applications for the Senior Alert Scheme. This is a personal alarm system available to people over 65yrs. Contact us for more details.

The Friday club is back 2-4pm on Fridays. They have a door-to-door Local Link bus service for this club every Friday. It’s an ideal opportunity to get a lift from your home to meet friends, enjoy a chat, a song or two, stories and information.
Family Carers Ireland will deliver a Caring with Confidence Course starting on Wednesday October 9th from 11am-1pm for eight weeks. They will also have a Carers Support Group starting on Friday October 11th from 10am-12pm, meeting monthly.
It will be an opportunity for those who are caring for someone to meet others in the same situation and learn from each other and also have the support of Family Carers Ireland with advice on supports available in the community.
Their Tuesday afternoon group continues at 2:30-4pm where they are working in collaboration with Roscrea Youth Service to compile a series of articles on life in Roscrea through the years and comparing it with the experience of young people and people new to they community. They welcome input from anyone who would like to come along. They are working towards producing a book with all the writings included.
