Clanwilliam U8s played a great game of rugby against Dungarvan on Sunday morning.
Unfortunately they did not get to play against Galbally, as they were unavailable.
Both halves of the game were full of passing, strong running and plenty of tries for both sides. Clanwilliam had tries from Fionn O’Grady, Jack Crowe, Adam Daly, Jack Ryan, Ronan O’Connor, Odhran O’Dwyer, Michael Moloney, Killian Barlow and Billy Quirke. Most of these scores were made by excellent passes from Peter Comerford, Eoin Horgan and Sean Kingston with Rory McCall displaying some strong running in the warm up game. This team is showing great improvement in all the skills required and would welcome any new members that would like to come along.
U9s - Clanwilliam U9’s had a very exciting game of rugby, against a very strong and determined Galbally side, the conditions were soft with the ball hard to control at times. The Clan lads did very well, with TJ Moloney, Gary Quirke, Sean Togher, Robert Corbett winning some great ball in the tight, there was great passing and support play from. Adam Lohan, Thomas O Mahony, Daniel Ryan Dave Russell, Darragh Quirke, Steven Franks, James Kilmartin and Conor Martin. Dan Moloney’s tackling skills stood him to good effect, while Darragh O Brien’s blistering pace ran in some well-worked tries. Well done to all, a great result, with everybody working really hard supporting each other on the day.
U11’s - Clan U11’s played Galbally in a very close match last Sunday morning. The Clan boys got stuck in right from the first whistle ably lead from the front by Jack Heffernan. All the boys defended very well against a strong Galbally team. Killian Fitzgerald and Niall Sharpe carried the ball well and made ground at every opportunity. Adam Dunne scored three outstanding tries and was very good at the breakdown turning over the ball on a few occasions. Others that put in a very big effort on the day were Kian Farrell, Mark Kelly, Ben Hickey, Thomas O Dwyer, Oisin McCall, and the very talented Adam Roche.
U12’s - The under 12’s played a thrilling match against Galbally this morning. Nothing was spared as both teams went at it from the off. This had to be the game of the season to date; the tackling, rucking and intensity of the game were top class from both teams.
Nothing separated the sides and in fact the score was a 0-0 draw, but nobody had any complaints on the final whistle as both teams gave an exhibition of how the game should be played.
Dungarvan also travelled to clan and although short on numbers gave a good account of themselves.
Darragh Halissey was in great form assisted by Craig Maher and Jordan Hadnett in the forwards. Eddie Daly, Dylan Farrelly and Nicholas Kennedy worked hard for the backs. Well done to Neil Ahearne on his first rugby match.
Training continues every Saturday morning at 10.30am - new players always very welcome. Many thanks to all parents for the super food and help in the kitchen.
