Unbeaten run continues
for Cashel in rugby league

Cashel 29 - Old Crescent 16

Cashel 29 - Old Crescent 16

Cashel continued their unbeaten run in the league by seeing off ,for the second time in four weeks, a strong Old Crescent side from Limerick.

This was really a game of two halves with the home side only really coming out of the traps and putting together some decent play after the interval.

This was another important win and a welcome break to the next fixture now allows time to heal some injuries.

Next up is the exciting prospect of Cork Constitution in the Munster Senior Cup this will be played on October 20, in Cork.

The Seconds will face UCC at home on Sunday with a kick off time of 2.30pm.

The Thirds face Waterford City away on Saturday evening.

Our U13s travelled to Thurles last weekend in their first league match of 2012/13 season. With only a short period of time to prepare, Cashel’s boys met the challenge head on. Play went in Thurles’ favour in the first half but Cashel did have encouraging displays in the forwards with newcomer Dylan Foley playing hooker supported with props of Matthew Hewitt and Ricky Lambe. Cashel’s second rows of Jack Riordan and Jack Ryan Con blended well, with the back row of Harry Tobin, Tomas Skeffington and Patrick O’Dwyer.

In the second half, Cashel fought back bravely from being 24 - 0 down at half time with great link play in the back line of Tom Dowling, Ryan O’Sullivan, Kian Bargary, John Ryan, Brian O’Connor, Joshua O’Dwyer and Niall O’Dwyer at full back. Some positional changes were made and replacements introduced with Tom Clarke, Feargail O’Donoghue, Eoghan Murphy and Gavin Clancy inspiring Cashel to fight back.

Harry Tobin finished off a super passing movement to score a fine try but time was running out! Cashel still kept ploughing away and with Brian O’Connor and Joshua O’Dwyer pressing forward, Ryan O’Sullivan finished off another superb movement to score beside the posts. Ryan also converted to leave the score line of 31 - 12. The Ref concluded proceedings as our boys were finding their feet playing 15-man rugby. Our thanks to all the parents who attended on the day and gave great support on the sideline.

Next week, we play Nenagh Ormonde at home with kick off 11am. No doubt Cashel will improve.
