Galbally United secured the Tipperary Southern and District League Shield Division 1 title when they beat Glengoole United by the odd goal in three in Bansha on Sunday.
It was Galbally’s second shield title in three years. They took the lead on sixteen minutes against the run of play. An under pressure clearance from Conor Hennebry caught the Glengoole defence ball-watching, allowing Darren Sheedy time to bring the ball under control before slipping it to Pat Murphy, whose powerful shot from the edge of the 6 yard box across the ‘keeper nestled in the opposite corner of the net.
They doubled their advantage in the second half with a Quin Perry goal after good work from Darren Sheedy.
However an own goal gave Glengoole hope but Galbally managed to hold on to claim the trophy
