The SFAI National Cup competitions commence next weekend, with most of the clubs from the TSSDL in action.
There is a National Cup competition in each age group from U12 to U16 with the finals played in Dublin in April.
The early rounds are played on a regional basis with the TSSDL clubs competing in the South East region against clubs from Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny and Carlow. The draw for the South East region can be seen at www.sfai.ie
Four knock-out rounds of matches are played in the South East region before Christmas which will result in four teams going forward to the open draw for the last 32 teams in Ireland. At the last 32 stage our teams can be drawn against any of the other remaining clubs in the country and so an away tie in Donegal is a possibility!
Next weekend the TSSDL clubs will play in the U12, U14 and U16 competitions. The U13 and U15 teams will play their matches the following weekend. The fixtures can be viewed on WWW.TSSDL.ie
The TSSDL committee wishes each team the best of luck in their National Cup matches and this column will track their progress through the competitions.
Welcome to St Nicholas Schoolboys
The committee of the TSSDL would like to welcome St Nicolas FC Schoolboys to the league. It is very encouraging to have new clubs joining the league and we are sure that each club is looking forward to visiting St Nicolas’s fine facilities in Solohead.
TSSDL Schoolgirls League
All clubs that wish to enter teams into the Schoolgirls league are asked to send a representative to a meeting that will be held in Cahir Park on Wednesday, September 26 at 8pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to elect a committee and to organise the start of the leagues. Last season was the first for the Schoolgirls league and it proved to be a great success. It is hoped that even more clubs will enter teams for the new season.
