Eamonn Buck and Kevin Colville, both from Clonmel and are participants on the South Tipperary Community Games CE Project, were amazed and delighted to discover they had both been named as Club Person of the Year by Clonmel Celtic Football Club.

They received their awards at a surprise function in Kate Ryan’s Lounge last week where they were invited to join in celebrations of a club soccer victory.

South Tipperary Community Games Company were delighted that the club saw fit to honour Eamonn and Kevin in recognition of all hard work the lads do every week to keep the Clubhouse, Dressing Rooms and grounds in immaculate condition.

They take great pride in their work, the awards were well deserved but there are many clubs who would take this service for granted. Despite being a relatively new club, only formed in 2003, it has made its mark both on and off the pitch.

Among its more memorable achievements were winning the Munster Youth Cup defeating Waterford Bohemians and winning the Tipperary Cup at junior level at the expense of their neighbours Clonmel Town who also have an outstanding record. The club now cater for numerous schoolboys and have a large membership at all levels.

They also have an all weather pitch and a state of the art laser guided line marker is the latest piece of machinery to come on board. Community Games are glad to be associated with all clubs who provide facilities to cater for youth, provide coaching and encourage them to lead healthy lifestyles. Congratulations to all.
