Carrick United 4 - 1 Ballinroad
A very good win in trying conditions at Coolnamuck. We gifted Ballinroad the first goal when we conceded from a corner kick with less than 5 minutes on the clock. This served to sharpen minds and we played some decent football for the rest of the half.

We were unlucky not to equalise when Shane D saw his blistering left foot effort just go over. David F was also unlucky not to score when getting on to the end of some lovely crosses from the right by Fitzy and Sean. We eventually got back on level terms when Eric showed well for a corner and his cross deep in to the box was turned in to the net by the energetic and lively Brendan.
The second half saw us dominate completely with the midfield trio of Joe, Shane D and Conor running the opposition ragged. David F followed up well, after good work down the right by Joe and Fitzy, to force the ball home to put us one up. Eric and Aidan bossed things at centre half and Danny kept the lively Ballinroad winger quiet.

Ben, after initial hic cup, showed what a reliable and sound keeper he has become. Shane O’D joined the fray and was very effective down the left with some good touches and awareness. He was rewarded when his persistence saw him extend our lead. Shane T came on to lead the line well and was soon joined my Michael who showed great touches in tight areas. Luke from the U14 squad, who gave us a dig out as we were short, came on to light up the place with his speed and skill. Luke provided the cross from a corner to allow Brendan, again, to score our fourth and final goal. It became very cold during the game with the rain adding to the miserable conditions. Well done to the whole panel, who all played, for playing good football and a big thank you to the parents/supporters who braved the conditions! Also, a big welcome back to Mark who has returned to training following recent serious injury.

Carrick United 10 - Bohemians 0
On Saturday last we played host to Bohs on a crisp, cold day. We got of to a great start with Dean Walsh scoring a great individual goal after one minute. From then on we played very well, with more goals from Dean who got his hat-trick, Luke Kiely (3), Greame Holloway (1), Billy Power (1), James Whelan (1) and an own goal. Next game home to Villa in SFAI Cup. Keep up the good work boys. The club would like to wish Luke Kiely, Dean Walsh, Darragh Walsh, Sean Martin and Dean Kiely every success after being selected for the Waterford Kennedy cup panel, with Dean Kiely doing what his Father and Uncle did all those years ago! Well done boys.

Carrick United 1 St. Pauls 2

Well done to all the 1st Div squad. The half way stage of the campaign was reached last Sunday being unlucky to go down to a “last kick of the ball” winner. In tough conditions against the league leaders St. Pauls the boys played very well. The commitment shown by most of the squad is a credit to both the young and more “senior” members.  The boys can build on this performance to an even better second half to the year.

Division ‎2 B League

Tycor 1 Carrick United 2.
Danny Pledger and Paul Quinlan either side of a Tycor penalty gave Carrick a hard fought win in tough conditions. Thus Carrick maintain top position.
