Cahir notes

A gathering for Eileen Reynolds pictured here with some of the many relatives who came to meet her and husband Tom last Friday.

The Tidy Towns Group was delighted with the success of their ‘Take Me Out’ fundraising event which took place last Saturday night. Over 240 people attended on the night so there was a great audience to watch the on stage proceedings. Participants were sceptical at first but once the event started, they all enjoyed it and played along. There were plenty of hits and misses during the entertaining evening and a couple of matches too!

Part two of the ‘Take Me Out Cahir’ programme was to provide a Memorial Garden at the steps of the Dovecote. We have now erected a hand rail and leveled the area in preparation for the official planting and blessing which will take place on Sunday May 19. Anyone who has a loved one buried locally or away and wants to remember them in a more novel way can plant a shrub and have their loved ones name put on a plaque at the Memorial Garden. We will be able to do this for €20 each but booking is essential as places are filling fast. We will start the planting at 2pm on the day and will have the blessing and unveiling of a plaque to Gussy Morrissey at 3pm when all work is complete. We are encouraging people to plant their own shrub on the day but of course the Tidy Towns team will be on hand to assist if needs be. This promises to be a great occasion and the completion of another wonderful project. Booking of a spot can be done through any committee member or by text or phone to 086-3609110.

We meet as usual on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Don’t forget you can follow the Group on Facebook to at cahirtidytowns and check out all their updates and pictures too!
