Former Tipp senior player Raymie Ryan is the manager of the County Minor Hurling team that begins its championship campaign with a trip to Walsh Park to play Waterford in the first round next Wednesday evening, 27th.
Cashel man Ryan is in charge of a team that will be hoping to add to the county’s impressive record of 36 provincial titles, which is the most won by any county in Munster.
His selectors are Jimmy Dunne (Moyle Rovers), Ray Ralph (Moycarkey/Borris) and Liam Flannery (Nenagh Eire Og).
The team is captained by Jason Forde of Silvermines and the panel includes four players who are also on the County Minor Football panel - Bill Maher (Kilsheelan/Kilcash), Niall O’Sullivan (Moycarkey/Borris), John McGrath and Liam McGrath (both Loughmore/Castleiney).
The winners will advance to the semi-final on June 24th to play the winners of the Cork/Limerick quarter-final, which also goes ahead next week.
The losers, meanwhile, will play the winners of the Losers Group first play-off on Saturday, May 7th.
The referee in Walsh Park will be Derek Mackessy. If necessary, extra time will be played in all games up to the final.
