St. Nicholas Boxing Club elected a new committee for the years ahead at its annual general meeting in the Parish Community Hall in Carrick-on-Suir.
Secretary Anthony Benisch outlined the key events over the past year for the club. These included boxers taking part in boxing leagues in Wexford, Kilkenny and Waterford and the Waterford/ Tipperary boxing championships.
Three of St Nicholas Boxing Club’s members won county championship titles including Stephen Benisch, who advanced to the final of the Irish championship at the National Stadium in Dublin.
Treasurer Patsy Hahessy presented an account of the club’s income and expenditure to the agm, which showed a small surplus.
The agm head that the Club’s annual flag day was hugely successful and the committee would like to thank the businesses that allowed collection at their premises, and all who contributed so generously.
Club President Paddy Moore updated members about the plans for improvements to toilet facilities for club members and the building of new dressing rooms.
The project is at an advanced stage of planning. The Club is currently awaiting the go ahead to proceed and a grant from the national boxing association.

President, Paddy Moore; Chairman, Jim Drohan; Secretary, Anthony Benisch, Joint Treasurers, Patsy Hahessy and Anthony Benisch; Head Coaches, Nicky Butler and James Lacey; Child Welfare Officer, Paddy Hanlon, Female Child Welfare Officer, Claire Moore.
Committee members: Noel Skehan, Margaret Drohan, Tommy Finn, Helen Hahessy, Ben Barry, Phil Moore, Stephen Walsh, Claire Moore and Kieran Quinlan.
Training for boxers resumes in the first week of September and takes place in St Nicholas Parish Community Hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm.
