On Friday night next, August 5, the legendary Brendan Bowyer and his band direct from Las Vegas, will perform all of his many hits and much more in Cashel’s Halla na Féile.
Brendan today has the same energy he was renowned for in the exciting days of The Royal Showband and The Big Eight ( remember the queues extending down Canopy Street, the crowd packed in like sardines with no room to dance, Brendans shirt dripping with sweat and being changed on stage in front of fifteen hundred pairs of eyes). He will be joined on stage by his daughter Aisling as “special guest”.
Aisling is a star in her own right and equally at home with musical theatre, rock and country music. She has joined Brendan fresh from her own show in Las Vegas.
Elvis was a fan of Brendan and The Beatles played support when The Royal Showband toured Britain having being voted “Britain’s Most Outstanding Dance band” on BBC Television’s “Come Dancing” in 1962.
The Royal Showband’s documentary movie “The One-Nighters” received a special award at the Cork Film Festival in 1963.
“The Hucklebuck” which was the biggest of his six No.1 hits went platinum internationally and his come-back album “Follow On” was record of the month in Hot Press Magazine (2001).
Brendan is an enduring legend and some of his most cherished memories are the glory days of dancing with The Royal Showband in the County Ballroom, now Halla Na Feile.
Don’t miss this unique date with Brendan and Aisling on Friday, August 5.
