Victory would mean the world to Seamus Callanan and Drom/Inch

Losing three County Finals in the past seven years doesn’t put Drom/Inch under any extra pressure going into Sunday’s decider, according to their captain Seamus Callanan.

“We have gone through a fair bit of heartbreak in county finals but we are not a team that looks back on things, we’re looking forward and hopefully this year will be different. We have a point to prove to ourselves really, not to anyone else. We’re going to approach it like every other game. The reward at the end of it is massive but we’re not thinking about a cup or the occasion, for us it is just another knockout game that we have to win.

I don’t think there is any pressure really, we just have to go in and hurl away. We will go out and do our best and hope our best is good enough”.

Seamus rated Clonoulty’s display in the semi-final as “unbelieveable. I don’t think anyone was smiling when they saw Clonoulty’s performance. You could see at half time that Clonoulty were not going to be beaten and every time a Sarsfields man had the ball there were three Clonoulty lads in his face. They worked so hard and were clinical as well when they got their chances and could have won by a bit more.

There was nobody leaving Semple Stadium thinking that it is going to be a handy day in the County final”.

He says that winning the Dan Breen Cup for the first time would be fantastic. “It would crown the hard work of everyone over the last few years. This is not just an effort that was built this year, there are so many people that have gone through so much heartbreak and all the training that has gone on down through the years, it’s all for winning county finals”.
