Clonoulty get their junior B campaign back on track against Rosegreen

Clonoulty/Rossmore got their opening win in the Tipperary Co Op West Tipperary Junior B Hurling Championship, when overcoming the home side at Rosegreen on Friday evening.

Played in dry conditions with a strong wind blowing away from the road end, the sides were on level terms at the break, 2.6 to 0.12. Clonoulty’s goals coming from Fintan Kearney after five minutes following a good pass from Cathal Ryan (Raymond) and Odhran Quirke after seventeen minutes.

Ger Cummins was unerring from placed balls for the home side, converting seven before the break. Clonoulty, aided by the wind for the second half, got a fortuitous goal after six when a Jamie Davern free from around ninety meters went all the way to the net.

Cathal Ryan (Raymond), who was always threatening, crashed home a penalty six minutes from time for Clonoulty’s fourth as they ran out six-point winners.

Following this loss, Rosegreen are unable to qualify for the knockout stages of the championship, while Clonoulty’s advancement is in their own hands when they take on Eire Og in Round 3.
