U16s shine amid mixed fortunes for Cashel Camogie

In the first round, on Wednesday, April 10, Cashel defeated St Mary’s, Clonmel.

In the second round, on Saturday, April 20, Cashel were defeated by Cahir in a very close encounter, on a scoreline of 1-1 to 1-00. The U12’s next match is away to Carrick Swans, date and time will be confirmed.


Last Tuesday evening Cashel travelled to play Cahir in the third round of the championship and came away with a substantial victory of 10-11 to 1-00.

Cashel have come away undefeated in their group and now qualify for a home county quarter final on April 30 at 7pm.


Last Thursday evening Cashel played Thurles in their final group game in one of the best games seen in Leahy Park for a long time. The first half displayed by the home team of blocking, hooking and scoring was a delight to watch. Cashel led at half time on a scoreline of 2-5 to 2-2.

In the second half Cashel played into a very strong wind. Their defence held out against a very determined Thurles forward line and broke up the field and scored 1-1 without reply. With five minutes to go in the game Cashel scored a goal leaving the final score 4-6 to 2-2. Well done to all the panel who will now contest a County Final.

Junior B

Sunday last in Leahy Park Cashel played Portroe in their final group game, winners take all for a County Semi-Final spot. Cashel played against a gale force wind in the first half and were down at half time on a scoreline of Portroe 1-5, 
Cashel 0-2.

In the first ten minutes of the second half Cashel came into this game in a big way scoring a goal and two points without reply to leave the score 1-5 to 1-4. In the next few minutes Portroe scored 1-4 without reply from frees. Cashel fought hard and were rewarded with a goal and two points. With five minutes to go, Cashel bombarded the Portroe goal but just could not get the equalising goal. The final score Portroe 2-9 Cashel 2-6
