David Mansfield puts in brilliant performance in Waterford’s Viking Marathon

Waterford was the venue last Saturday for both the Marathon and Half Marathon races.

In the full marathon David Mansfield ran a brilliant race when finishing 6th in 2 hours 57 mins, superb running. We also had good performances from Noel Gilman who was 105th in 3 hours 37 mins 15 secs with his training partner Mark Corcoran 126th in 3 hours 42 mins 52 secs and Philip Hennessy 259th in 4 hours 12 mins 2 secs.

In the Half Marathon Gary Grant ran a brilliant race when finishing 17th overall in 84 mins 51 secs. Then we had good performances from Frank Moran 27th in 88 mins 32 secs and Keith Barry 28th in 88 mins 36 secs, Gerard O’Loughlin 59th 93:23, Ivan Barlow 133rd 103:58, Rene van der Poort 166th 106:26, Anne Maher 269th 113:34 and Anthony Power 195th 114:31.

Great performances in the Champion Kiely 5k

The Champion Kiely 5k Road Race took place in good running conditions last Friday night with over 200 athletes competing. The event went off extremely well and full credit to the organisers.

The Club would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event such a success.

Paudie O’Keeffe ran very well when finishing first over 40 in 16 mins 44 secs. Then we had Derek Nolan also running well when 2nd 0/50 in 17 mins 35 secs. Valerin Thzcoin put in a fine performance when finishing 16th in 17:45 with Conor Fleming 18th in 17:49. Angela McCann signed off on her holidays in fine style when winning the Ladies race in 17 mins 59 secs. Then we had Niall O Ceallaigh 23rd in 18:01. John Walsh also ran well when 26th in 18:28 with Eoin McGrath 27th in 18:32, Larry Martin 28th in 18:35, Brendan Ahearne 29th in 18:38 and Alan O’Shea 30th in 18:45. Ciaran Fahey ran well when finishing 32nd in 18:51and then we had Aine Roche running very well when 2nd Senior lady in 19 mins 2 secs. Ciaran O’Flaherty also ran well when 41st in 19:30.

We also had good performances from Pat Coffey 42nd 19:33, Pat O Connor 44th 19:42, Sean Buckley 50th 19:54, Jim St John 53rd 20:05, Ian Condon 55th 20:26, Ned O’Brien 59th 20:39, then we had Mary Molloy finishing 4th Senior Woman in 21:14, Maurice Boland was 65th in 21:15, Tom Butler 67th 21:24, Martin Walsh 79th 22:20, Donna Nagle 85th 22:48, Joe Grinsell ran well to win the over 60 award in 22:51, Darragh O Keeffe 89th 22:53, Tom Bourke 90th 22:55, Philip Quigley 95th 23:20, Myles McHugh 96th 23:24, Brendan Franklin 97th 23:30, Eileen Hynes 98th 23:35, Sheila Perry 99th 23:37, Hazel Galloway 101st 23:42, Helen O Ceallaigh 107th 23:59, Brendan White 109th 24:02, Eamon Crowley 113th 24:10, Deirdre Healy 118th 24:27, Anna Byrne 121st 24:39, Melissa McCarthy 127th 25:04, Joan Guidera 128th 25:05, Ger Daly 129th 25:07, Gemma McLoughlin 132nd 25:35, Judy Newman 139th 26:26, Caitriona O’Connor 144th 26:50, Helen Gilman 150th 27:24, Caroline Hogan 162nd 28:57, Tina Clarke 167th 29:22, Eimear Cooney 171st 30:11, Sabrina Guide 172nd 30:22, Andrea Keenan 174th 30:45, Rita O’Loughlin 176th 31 mins, Ali Laste 177th 31:04 and Susan Laste 185th 32:35.

The Ladies team of Donna, Eileen and Sheila won the Inter Club Ladies team event.
