Kickhams’ late run in the O’Dwyer Steel under-21 A hurling championship continued on Saturday at Leahy Park, Cashel when they had an easy 1-18 to 1-5 victory over Golden-Kilfeacle and thus qualified for the semi-final of the competition against Cashel King Cormacs.
The final result didn’t seem likely after three minutes when Golden had the ball in the Kickhams net for the best of starts. However, that was as good as it got for Golden.
The game continued fairly even during the first half and Kickhams led by 0-9 to 1-4 at the interval but the signs were already evident that they were in control.
They showed how much in the second half when they added 1-9 while confining Golden to a single point. The losers contributed to their own defeat through some dreadful wides, especially in the first half, when they were still in touch.
As well as Kickhams playing Cashel King Cormacs in the semi-final, Clonoultry-Rossmore take on Arravale Rovers in the second semi-final. Both games are scheduled for this weekend.
