Clare 1-16 Tipperary 1-14

Clare 1-16 Tipperary 1-14

Tipperary’s hopes of a hurling grand slam in Munster were dashed in Ennis last night when they were beaten by Clare in the Munster U-21 Hurling Final.

Tipp were a point ahead when the game entered injury time and seemed set to add the U-21 title to the provincial Senior, Minor and Intermediate championships already won.

However Clare snatched a dramatic victory with an additional time goal from substitute Niall Arthur.

Tipp were ahead at half-time by 0-6 to 0-5 and despite a tremendous goal from captain and top scorer John O’Dwyer with 12 minutes remaining they could never shake off a determined Clare team that won what was only the county’s second Munster title in the grade.
