The Ladies and Gentâ€™s Captains Pitch and Putt Prizes took place on Sunday at Hillview Sports Club, Clonmel.
Start time was 8.00am and there was a very good turnout.
Thirteen Gents qualified for the final 18 hole playoff. Seven ladies played in the playoff.
Leading after the first 36 holes in the ladies was Pauline Lucey and in the Gents was Billy McNamara. In the final 18 holes there was some great pitch and putt played in the ladies and gents.
The Following are the final results: Ladies Captains Winner, Bridget Walsh with a 54 hole nett score of 154. Runner-up, Pauline Lucey with 157. Overall Gross went to Shula McCarthy with 115. Ladies 0 to 11 Nett Winner, Laura Oâ€™Hanrahan with 105. Ladies 12 to 18 Nett Winner, Mary Moloney with 105. The Final 18 Nett Winner was Kathleen Foran with 48.
Gents Winner was Billy McNamara with a Nett score of 142. Runner-up, John Fitzgerald with 145 (Final 18). Overall Gross went to James Cleary with 98. The Senior Nett went to Stephen Oâ€™Reilly with 100. Inter Nett went to Tommy White with 94. Junior Nett went to Paddy Oâ€™Hanrahan with 96. Final 18 Nett went to Stephen White with 47.
On Tuesday July 16 last there was another very good turnout for the annual Tuesday scramble.
Overall Nett Winners were Stephen White, Teresa Johnson and Colin Hally with 58 2/3. Nett Runners-up were Tim Shanley, Lorraine Creed and Evelyn Cahill with 59 1/3. Overall Gross Winners were Mattie Anglim, Phyllis McCabe and John Fitzgerald with 69.
The Ladies Bulmerâ€™s Light Cup Final took place on Thursday, July 11. It turned out to be a very close match. In the end Pauline Lucey beat Kathleen Foran 2&1. In the playoff for third place Mary Moloney ran out a convincing winner over Nora Whelan.
The Gentâ€™s Smithwicks Cup Final took place on Sunday. This was an all senior affair with Stephen Oâ€™Reilly running out a convincing winner over Noel Joyce by 5&4. In the playoff for third Con Lucey broke the heart of Eoin Shanley winning 2&1.
The Clonmel Credit Union club Graded Matchplay Draws are on the Pitch and Putt kiosk window. All players who entered please take note of when matches are to be played by. The onus is on the player on top to arrange the match. All matches are off scratch.
Munster Cup Div 4:
Hillview progressed into the quarter finals of the Munster Summer Cup Division 4 after a hard fought win against Puckane. They will now meet Kinsale who beat New Inn. The team fought back well after being 2 games down to win 3-2 in a super doubles match. The team was comprised of Michael Moroney, Michael Murray, Ulrik Nyberg & Paul Foley.
This year the Junior Open week is again been sponsored by Frank Quirke, Barrister of Law. The tournament will have around 200 entries. It runs from Sunday 11th August to Saturday 17th August. Keep practicing and playing the junior ladder. Also refer to the notice board for the Junior Summer Camp that coach Paschal Whelan is organising.
Hillview Social badminton takes place every Tuesday at 9.00pm and Friday at 8.00pm. All standards welcome.
