John Joy & Johnny Walshe Fourball

In a summer where good and great scoring has become the norm on a course ‘shortened’ by the exceptional weather, we’ve had 46 points in single stableford, 64 nett in a strokes competition as well as a repeat of the course record of 65.

Now it has happened again, this time in the John Joy & Johnny Walshe sponsored Fourballl where PJ Quinlivan (16), partnered by Dan Madigan (22) scored an incredible 51 stableford points and, to add insult to injury so to speak, it was achieved while playing off of three quarters of the handicaps.  It was a perfect partnership, dove tailing for almost the entire 18 holes where PJ was best on 11 holes and Dan scored on the other 8.

Out in a marvellous 1 over par better ball for 25 points it only got better on the back nine which was covered in level par for an additional 26 points to make the total of 51.

In second place on 45 points which ordinarily might have won the competition were Sean Crosse (18) and Noel Maher (16) while Pat Johnson Jnr (7) and Paul McGarry (11) took the third prize on the last 6.

Clonmel Golf Club would like to thank John and Johnny for the marvellous sponsorship.
