Darren Sweeney sinks Suirside with hat-trick

Bansha 2 - 4 Suirside

Bansha 2 - 4 Suirside

Suirside scored first in the seventh minute when a misdirected defensive clearance let in Alan Ward to score. In the 12th minute a poor Bansha offside trap was easily beaten by Darren Sweeney who slotted home from eight yards. Bansha got one back two minutes later when youth player Sean Breen scored low past the keeper, but a near repeat of the poor offside attempt let in Darren Sweeney to get the third for the visitors on the half hour. Sweeney completed his hat trick and got Suirside’s fourth just before half-time with a nice finish.

In the second half Bansha got a better grip of things at the back and Sean Breen got his and Bansha’s second in the 55th minute, and while Bansha had the better chances to score from there on in, the visitors held on for an easy victory.

Cullen Lattin 3 – 0 Two Mile Borris

Cullen Lattin were good value for this win on Sunday last when they beat the reserves from Two Mile Borris with planty to spare. Darren “Gizmo” Mc Carthy opened the scoring on 25 minutes. The lead was doubled by substitute Shane Prendeville midway through the second half, and five minutes from time he got his second to give the West Tipp side all three points.

Tipperary Town 0 – 1 Peake Villa

This was a hard fought contest with nothing between the sides in the first half when David Fitzgearld came the closest to scoring for Villa.

In the second half Villa took the lead through Tom Rykala from a great pass by Tom Grodski in the 50th minute. Sam Martin came close for Villa again after this and Ger “Redser” O’Grady hit the bar in the 80th minute. Tipperary Town pushed hard in the last ten minutes for an equaliser but stern defending by Liam Mackey and John Leahy helped Villa win all three points.
