Peake Villa 1 – 0 Tipperary Town
Peake Villa’s reserves stayed on top of the Fourth Division with a hard fought win over an improving Tipperary Town team.
The home side started strongly, and were only denied the lead by two great saves by the Tipperary goalkeeper, from Dale Loughnane and Stevie Fewer. This was typical of how the game progressed with the visitors frustrating the Thurles team, and it looked like they would escape with a well earned point, until five minutes before the end, a Loughnane shot from a corner kick, landed at the feet of Tomas Rykala, and he buried it from close in.
This took the wind from the Tipperary sails, and they never threatened to equalise as Peake added another three points to their campaign total.
Bansha Celtic B 2 - 0 Cullen Lattin B
Bansha Celtics second string kept up their improved results with a hard fought win at home on Sunday. They can thank their young keeper Callum Fanning for keeping it scoreless with three fine saves early on, before Brendan MGrath opened the scoring with a fantastic free kick from outside the box in the twenty fifth minute.
The second and final goal of the game was scored by Tony Lowry three minutes from the break when a long ball from the Bansha keeper was headed in to his path and he finished well from six yards out.
Cullen tried to get back in to the game but Bansha’s defence held firm, to record a well-deserved victory.
