League wins for Bansha Celtic and Killusty

Two Mile Borris 1 – 3 Bansha Celtic

The home team missed the opportunity to go top of the First Division while the league leaders were in Cup action on Sunday, when they were hit by two late goals by an improving Bansha Celtic outfit.

The visitors opened the scoring on the half hour when Tony Egan scored direct from a free kick, and it took until the 60th minute for Two-Mile-Borris to hit back, when Philip Grace finished after some good work by the home team.

Both teams missed chances in the next 20 minutes and it looked like they were going to share the points, until Egan popped up again five minutes before time to put Bansha Celtic back in front.

Two-Mile-Borris drove at them to try to get an equaliser, but as often happens were caught with a classic counter attack goal as David Finnane put the result beyond them with a goal deep into injury time.

Killusty 5 – 1 Kilsheelan United

Killusty threw the Second Division wide open again on Sunday with a comprehensive win over league leaders Kilsheelan United.

After a tight opening to the game, Karl Maher struck in the 21st minute, to start a glut of goals for the home team. David Conway added a second four minutes later, and a brace of goals by Shane Aylward and Adam Lyons put the home team in complete control.

It took until ten minutes before the end for the visitors to raise any resistance when Senan O’Halloran clawed one back, but any hopes of a late revival from Kilsheelan United were snuffed out by an own goal two minutes from time, to restore the home side’s four advantage and also the three points on offer.
