Cashel RFC held their annual general meetingeeting in the clubhouse on Saturday night, June 11.
President Paudi Ryan Preston who is recovering from a recent health scare was unable to attend, however past President Peter Silke accepted the chair and opened the meeting. Before the start of business Peter called for a minutes silence as a mark of respect to the Byrne family who lost their young son Dean Byrne tragically in an accident on the River Suir.
The meeting then commenced with the first order of business, the review of last years minutes, the reading of the treasurer and secretaries reports followed by outstanding correspondence.
Peter next moved to the elections of the officers. Current President Paudi Ryan Preston was returned unopposed along with treasurer Denis Moran and secretary Andrew O’ Dwyer. Current head coach Ian Dunne was asked and accepted to lead the first team again for the 2011 / 12 season.
Peter next explained that they were going to create a new position, that of Club Chairman. This position was being created for two reasons first for the person elected to lead the club while current President Paudi Ryan Preston fully recovers and secondly to help the President in running the club on his return as the workings of the club will increase significantly now that Cashel RFC are a senior club.
Peter opened the floor to the candidates, committee member Sean Ryan was nominated and elected unopposed. As the new chairman Sean was invited to come to the top table and chair the remainder of the meeting.
He thanked all present for their support and to Peter for chairing the meeting . He concluded with any other business before closing the meeting.
The club are holding their annual Golf Classic on June 23 and 24 in County Tipperary Golf and Country Club. Teams of four cost €E200. Please contact Johnny Hannigan at 087 220 6611 to book a tee time. Your support in this fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
Cashel’s RFC’s annual barbecue is also being held at the start of July (July 2 at 7p.m). In these recessionary times entry on the night costs €E15. Music and entertainment will be provided on the night. All are welcome on the night and tickets can be purchased in JD Spearmans Tea Shop at any time.
